Tuesday, November 4th, 2025:
I voted YES on HB 4073, 4421 (Reps. Prestin, Kunse) would require DNR Conservation Officers (COs) to obtain a search warrant before entering private property. Would create a new section in NREPA that requires an agent of the Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy (DEGLE) to obtain a warrant or consent of the property owner or occupant before entering private property. The bill stipulates the open fields doctrine does not apply to a search conducted by an agent of the department. EXPLANATION: The DNR and EGLE have run roughshod on peoples’ private property. Not only is this an infringement of fundamental property rights, it’s wrongful overreach by rogue state agencies. The law enforcement aspect of these agencies should follow the same procedure as other law enforcement.
PASSED: 63-37, PASSED: 63-37
I voted YES on HB 4861 (Rep. Outman) would remove the requirement that those who are seeking a non-partisan office select a party affiliation when filing their affidavit to run for office. EXPLANATION: People who are running for a nonpartisan office should not have to submit party affiliation because that information is not pertinent to the position for which they’re seeking office. Removing this requirement streamlines the process for nonpartisan candidates, thereby making the electoral process more efficient.
PASSED: 100-0
I voted YES on HB 4840 (Rep. Lightner) would clarify existing law by ensuring that litigation among owners of privately-held corporations and limited liability companies (LLCs) is assigned to Michigan’s business courts – regardless of whether the corporation or LLC itself is a named party. EXPLANATION: It is logical that litigation involving businesses is handled by business courts. These courts specialize in hearing business-related cases, making for a more efficient process in resolving business disputes.
PASSED: 99-1
I voted YES on HR 195 (Rep. Johnsen) a resolution to oppose the proposed Michigan Health Education Standards Framework and urge the Michigan Department of Education to redraft or the Michigan State Board of Education to reject these standards. EXPLANATION: The bureaucrats at the Michigan Department of Education continue their relentless ideological crusade to indoctrinate children by sneaking woke sex education topics into general health education. This shameless attempt at exposing kids to blatantly false gender theory should unequivocally be rejected.
PASSED: 56-42
Wednesday, November 5th, 2025:
I voted YES on HB 4930 (Rep. Mueller) would amend the Public Health Code to require a license applicant to include their full legal name on a license application. EXPLANATION: Including a full legal name on a medical license is sensible. Nicknames present a loophole which bad actors can use to avoid accountability to their patients.
PASSED: 100-0
I voted NO on HB 4929 (Rep. Pavlov) would allow for an individual to voluntarily relinquish a license or registration under the Public Health Code. EXPLANATION: While it should be simple for people to relinquish a license they no longer want, they should not have to wait eight years to reapply for a license. An eight year ban on reapplication is an inappropriate limitation on market activity. The concept of streamlined license relinquishment is good, but it should come with no strings attached.
PASSED: 99-1
Thursday, November 6th, 2025:
I voted NO on HB 4860 (Rep. Harris) would amend the Insurance Code to require health plans or nonprofit dental care organizations to have one method of payment or reimbursement to dentists that is fee free. EXPLANATION: It is not the government’s proper role to tell insurance companies how to pay dentists. This is a matter between insurance providers and dentists to resolve through market processes.
PASSED: 99-1
I voted NO on HB 4726 (Rep. Bierlein) would extend the sunset capping county “maintenance of effort” reimbursement rates for county-owned nursing home facilities that serve Medicaid patients. EXPLANATION: This sunset has already been extended eleven times in my lifetime. Instead of continuing to kick the can down the road, the sunset should be eliminated but the exorbitant cost of nursing homes needs to be addressed. Interconnected layers of government financing will not properly address this issue.
PASSED: 97-3
I voted YES on HB 5079&80 (Rep. Mueller) would make it a 15-year felony to take a firearm from a peace officer or corrections officer, by the use of force or violence. EXPLANATION: Taking a firearm from a law enforcement officer is a crime that has a clear victim. If a police officer is disarmed, both the officer and bystanders are at severe risk of harm. The same holds true if someone carrying a gun in public is robbed of their firearm. This aligns state law with both circumstances carrying a maximum of a 15 year sentence.
PASSED: 75-25, PASSED: 75-25
I voted NO on HR 214 (Rep. Hall) a resolution to urge the United States Senate to immediately pass a clean continuing resolution to reopen the federal government. EXPLANATION: The continuing resolution would keep Biden-era spending alive and well, in effect preserving fiscal irresponsibility that drives inflation. The federal government should instead cut exorbitant spending and pay down the federal government’s unsustainable debt by removing waste, fraud, and abuse of taxpayer dollars. DOGE did the work and found logical cuts, it’s up to the federal government to codify fiscal sanity, not leftist insanity.
PASSED: 54-46
